Ryan Tubridy announces first three Late Late Show guests

Ryan Tubridy has announced the first three guests for The Late Late Show.

The show’s highly anticipated return airs on RTÉ One this Friday, September 4th, at 9:35pm.

Ryan Tubridy spoke on his RTÉ Radio 1 show, where he told listeners what guests they can expect to see on tomorrow night’s show.

“I can tell you one or two people because they said I can,” he explained, “I said ‘Can I tell them everything?’ and they said no because there has to be some element of surprise.”

“I was in Croke Park last week for a very special reason, and the reason was our friends in Croke Park said ‘You can have the stadium as long as you treat it respectfully.’

“I said yeah, because I want to interview someone in the stand of the empty stadium – and that somebody is Mícháel Ó Muircheartaigh.”

The Irish Gaelic games commentator recently celebrated his 90th birthday, and brought his two daughters and one of his sons to the stadium to speak with Ryan: “We sat and spoke for half an hour. He’s such a delightful human being and a sage. And I think the country needs a sage these days.

“Croke Park is so tied up with the country’s history and love of sport, and to be sitting there with that lovely gentleman was an absolute pleasure – and I think you’ll like what you see.”

“Also tomorrow night, Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol will be on to kind of represent the Electric Picnic that wasn’t.

“We’ll have the Women In Harmony who had this big hit with Dreams from the Cranberries – they’ll be joining us too which promises to be really beautiful.

“We have other guests, and other extraordinary stories tomorrow night. So put the kettle on, get the bottle in, the popcorn on the side as well – and join us. We look forward to your company no end.”
