Ruth Negga stuns at the Palm Springs International Film Festival

Ruth Negga stunned at the Palm Springs International Film Festival yesterday, where she picked up a prestigious Rising Star award.

The Ethiopian-born actress, who was raised in Limerick by her Irish mother, has been making waves over in the US thanks to her role in new film Loving, which she stars in alongside Joel Edgerton.

The 36-year-old, who landed on the cover of US Vogue’s January issue, stunned on the red carpet as she posed in a sheer Valentino gown.

Picking up the award at the 28th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival at the Palm Springs Convention Center, the actress got noticeably choked up in her acceptance speech as she told the audience how honoured she was to play the role of Mildred in Loving.

Ruth has been tipped for an Oscar nomination, ever since Loving premiered at Cannes in May.

The film is based on the true story of Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving, an interracial couple who were arrested in 1958 for marrying.
