RTÉ presenter Miriam O’Callaghan has revealed that she’s willing to take a pay cut amid the broadcaster’s financial issues.

Two weeks ago, the station announced that they would be cutting €60 million from their budget, and axing 200 jobs along with it.

The radio presenter, who also hosts Prime Time on RTÉ One, has said she has not yet spoken to Director-General Dee Forbes about her future – but she isn’t too worried about it.

Speaking to RSVPLive, Miriam said: “Obviously like different places at different times, RTÉ is going through its own major problems but all I ever say is what we need to do is what I did last night on-air is go out and do a rocking good Prime Time and a rocking good radio show.”

“At the end of the day I am not a manager, I don’t control the place, I am not in charge of its overall destiny.”

“I haven’t had any meetings yet but of course I will not be found wanting,” she said.

“What I mean by that is of course if RTÉ is in trouble and the DG asks me for a cut, well then obviously I will be willing to take that cut.”

Working for RTÉ since 1996, Miriam said she loves the broadcaster.

She added: “Honestly, I don’t do stress. I couldn’t be bothered. We are in this life for too short of a time. I don’t do stress. I love love love my job.”

“I am grateful for it every day, so happy. I love RTÉ. I am passionate about the place. I am passionate about public service broadcasting. I am a very positive person so I live my life waking up every morning grateful that I am alive and my children are healthy.”

“All I can do for the listeners and viewers of Ireland is provide them with good shows and that is what I try to do.”
