RTE splashed out nearly €1,400 per day on taxis in 2015.
From driving in staff to transporting contributors to their Donnybrook studios, the broadcaster spent €494,000 last year on taxis alone – which averages to €1,353 a day.
In the year before RTE spent 70,000 less on taxis, spending €424,177 in total.
According to the Irish Independent RTE only spent €372,512 on taxis in 2013, so there has been a huge increase in the last three years.
A spokesperson for RTE said the increase is due to providing transport for their “vast range of contributors”, adding that preparations for the 1916 celebrations made an effect on the costs.
