Roz Purcell reveals family struggle with sister Rachel’s cancer diagnosis

Roz Purcell has revealed her family’s struggle with sister Rachel Purcell’s cancer diagnosis.

The 28-year-old was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia earlier this year.

“My parents say it was the worst few weeks when we found out because we didn’t really have a proper diagnosis and it’s the worst if it’s your child because you’re supposed to be there to protect them,” she said.

The model admitted that her family are more aware of spending time together.

“We’ve all become more conscious of spending more time together because you really don’t know what will happen,” she told the Irish Mirror.

“Especially since out of all of us Rachel was probably the healthiest.

“She would have done everything in moderation, whereas me and our other sister probably overtrain a little.”

Roz also revealed that she makes sure she is tested regularly.

“I’d be kind of a hypochondriac and would always get tests done, whereas Rachel wouldn’t.

“I’ve always got blood tests every six months, I did the breast cancer check yourself campaign about a year ago so I’ve always been conscious of it since then,” she added.

“Also with things like smear tests, I always get them done.”

Roz admitted to Goss.ie that Rachel is doing well at the moment and she’s gone back to work.
