Roz Purcell admits she was ’embarrassed and disappointed’ over business failure

The former model launched her own brand in 2016 - but it didn't make enough money

Roz Purcell has admitted she was “embarrassed and disappointed” over the failure of her beauty brand, Ripe By Roz.

The former Miss Universe Ireland launched her own brand back in 2016, selling a range of unique body scrubs.

But unfortunately, Roz was forced to scrap the business altogether in 2018 – due to poor sales.

The 30-year-old made the confession in a candid Instagram post about her “failures”.

Roz captioned the post: “Remember this isn’t the place where people post their failures! I wanted today’s #contentcontent to be about the failures I feel I’ve made and kind of sidetracked.”

“This place can definitely make you feel like you’re not enough, no one shares all the failures or mistakes they’ve had along the way.

“In the past few years, I’ve started a business that didn’t work out (Ripe) simply just didn’t make enough turn over. I avoided talking about it, I was embarrassed and disappointed.”

Roz continued: “I tried to set up a cafe that fell through miserably. The biggest failure was thinking I had enough cash flow to hire someone- I didn’t and it definitely made me fearful of taking chances again.”

“Lastly not finishing my degree something I do get very insecure about.”

“I guess what I want today’s post to be about is it probably seems like everything always works out but I fail a lot more than show, I fail big, make bad decisions and feel like I’m rushing to succeed because online it seems like no one ever fails.

“It’s definitely something I wish people posted about more I think it would be almost reassuring it’s normal, it’s life, it’s ok, it’s a bit shit but it happens everyone. Please feel free to share your failures,” Roz added.

The former model was praised for being so honest in the comment section.

One follower commented: “Needed this today after having a breakdown and feeling I’m not achieving anything lately and everyone around me is growing and achieving so much. Thanks you for normalising the feelings and reminding me not everything is sunshine and daisies for everyone.”

Another wrote: “Roz, I seldomly comment on posts but for this one, I have to salute your honesty. Thank you for showing that us, humans, are vulnerable beings.”

“I also faced multiple failures in running businesses. But they say experience is the best teacher, right? So, what we make out of that experience is what matters.”
