Rosanna Davison reveals she suffered 15th miscarriage before she fell pregnant with twins

Rosanna Davison has revealed she suffered her 15th miscarriage last year, shortly before she fell pregnant with twins.

The former Miss World appeared on The Late Late Show on Friday night to promote her new book When Dreams Come True – which documents her journey to motherhood.

Rosanna had previously opened up about suffering 14 miscarriages with her husband Wes Quirke before they decided to have a baby through surrogacy in 2019.

After going through the surrogacy process, the couple welcomed a daughter named Sophia via gestational surrogate in November 2019.

But in a surprising turn of events, Rosanna announced that she was pregnant with twins just eight months later, after experiencing a fertility miracle.

The model mum went on to give birth to identical twin boys, Oscar and Hugo, in November 2020.

During her chat with Ryan Tubridy on Friday night, the 36-year-old revealed that she actually suffered her 15th miscarriage early last year – two months before she fell pregnant with twins.

But this miscarriage was different compared to her previous pregnancy losses, as she lost her baby at 10 weeks.

Before, Rosanna said she never got past 6 and a half weeks pregnant.

The mother-of-three confessed she was “stunned” as she had never gotten that far in a pregnancy, and admitted it gave her a “glimmer of hope”.

About two months later in April 2020, Rosanna said she felt unwell so she decided to take a pregnancy test – which turned out to be positive.

After going for a scan, the model was told she was about six weeks pregnant, and the doctors detected a heart beat.

However, Rosanna was afraid to get her hopes up as she’d suffered so many miscarriages in the past.

But when she went back for her next scan, the former beauty queen discovered she was expecting twins.

Recalling the heartwarming moment, Rosanna said: “I was just shocked, I mean to go from the girl who couldn’t have a baby, who needed to rely on a surrogate, to being pregnant with twins… it was just the most extraordinary feeling.”

“But it took me a long time to really believe that it would last, I didn’t believe that it would.”

Rosanna said there was no scientific or medical explanation for why she fell pregnant with twins and was able to maintain the pregnancy this time.

But the model said she believes a combination of being in lockdown, and the fact they had already had a baby through surrogacy, made her relax about starting a family.
