Golf pro Rory McIlroy has won the British Open, and at the same time helped his father win a bet.
Rory’s dad Gerry and his two friends had put down a £100 bet that Rory, 25, would win the British Open by the age of 26.
Gerry placed the bet back in 2004 with the odds at 500-1, meaning today he can cash out £50,000 (€63,161) on his bet.
Celebs from all over the world have already been congratulating the golfer on the winvia Twitter.

“Well done @McIlroyRory on winning #TheOpen smashed it,” Olly Murs added.
“Congrats @McIlroyRory delighted for you!!!!,” Brian McFadden wrote.
No word yet on whether Rory’s rumoured girlfriend Nadia Forde will be congratulating the golf star.

According to reports the model is actually holidaying in Florida, and won’t be seeing Rory anytime soon.
