The Rolling Stones could be set to perform in Ireland this year.

The band, who haven’t performed on Irish shores in over a decade, will reportedly embark on a tour around the UK this summer.

According to the Irish Independent, if their UK tour goes ahead – it’s highly likely that they’ll announce an Irish tour date too.

The rock band, who formed in 1962, last played here when they headlined at Slane in 2007.

The news comes after fans were left disappointed last year, as the band didn’t include any UK or Irish dates on their ‘No Filter’ European tour, due to “lack of available venues because of sporting fixtures”.

At the time, the Rolling Stones apologised to fans by saying, “Hope to be here in 2018.”

If the Rolling Stones do return to Ireland, it’s believed their gig would take place at the Aviva Stadium or Croke Park.
