Popular pro dancer ‘set to leave RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars’ for BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing

Pasquale La Rocca is reportedly set to leave RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars for the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

According to the UK Mirror, the Italian dancer is being lined up to replace pro dancer Aljaz Skorjanec, who recently announced his departure from the show.

A source told the outlet: “Strictly bosses have drawn up a wishlist and would love Pasquale as long as they could prise him away from the Irish show.”

“He is super-talented and an exciting prospect,” the insider added.

It’s no surprise Pasquale has caught the attention of Strictly bosses, as he’s won the Irish version of Dancing with the Stars twice, and was crowned the winner of the Belgium series in 2019.

The 32-year-old won DWTS in 2020 with Lottie Ryan, and just last month he lifted the glitterball trophy alongside jockey Nina Carberry.

Fuelling reports he’s jumping ship to the UK, Pasquale has previously admitted he’d love to appear on Strictly.

The pro dancer told RSVP Live: “Strictly Come Dancing is the biggest show on UK television and it is the show that everybody wants to be on.

“I lived in England for years and I always said that I wanted to be on the show one day. But circumstances change and you experience different things.”

“If it happens in the future, I would be over the moon. But, if not, I will stay going in this direction.”

If he accepts an offer from the BBC, Pasquale will be following in the footsteps of Kai Widdrington – who left DWTS for Strictly last year.

Kai appeared on RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars for four years before he joined Strictly as a pro dancer in 2021.

The BBC and RTÉ declined to comment on this story when contacted by Goss.ie. Pasquale has also been contacted for a comment.
