Popular 2FM presenters reveal new gig after fans questioned why they were ‘missing’ from new schedule

RTÉ 2FM presenters Emma Power and Graham Smyth aren’t going anywhere, despite concern over them being “missing” from the station’s new schedule.

On Thursday, the radio station announced a huge shakeup to their lineup of shows and presenters.

The schedule includes a brand new Breakfast Show presented by Carl Mullan, Roz Purcell, and Aisling Bonner, and announced Doireann Garrihy’s return to the station with a new Drivetime programme.

However, many listeners noticed that popular presenters, Aifric O’Connell, Emma Power and Graham Smyth, did not appear to be in the new schedule.

Aifric is currently hosting the Breakfast Show alongside Carl Mullan, after moving to the new slot from Drivetime – which she previously hosted alongside The 2 Johnnies.

Emma and Graham are currently hosting Drivetime with Roz Purcell, but that’s all about to change.

After the news was announced, 2FM listeners expressed their disappointment on social media, and questioned why there was no mention of Emma, Graham or Aifric.

One listener wrote: “Petition to keep @aifricoc 💪.”

Another asked: “@aifricoc where are you going.”

Speaking about Emma and Graham, one listener said: “Christ more shuffling than a vegas casino 😅 what’s happening Aifric and Emma and Graham?😑”

Another commented: “Ah where’s Graham and Emma? Disgusted.”

Emma and Graham have since confirmed they will remain at the station, but are simply moving to a new slot at the weekends.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Emma shared a photo of the pair in studio alongside the caption: “Your new weekend drive crew we’re delighted to be keeping 3-6 & driving you home Saturdays & Sundays.

“We will be on weekday drive as our trio with our @rozannapurcell for the next few weeks so keep tuning in & having the craic with us!”

It’s unknown where Aifric is moving to within the station, however, fans can still listen to her on The 2 Johnnies podcast.

The presenter has become a staple on the popular podcast, and appeared on the recently released third part of their GAA Catfish series.

Aifric has worked at 2FM for a number of years, most notably joining The 2 Johnnies on Drivetime before their shock departure last summer.

After Doireann Garrihy’s exit from 2FM Breakfast last year, Aifric then joined Carl Mullan in the slot – and was a huge hit with listeners.

Similarly, Emma has been a staple at the station for many years, previously hosting a weekend slot with Roz Purcell.

However in October, Emma and Roz, who hosted the 12pm to 3pm slot on Saturday and Sunday, moved to the Drivetime weekday show.

In the move, the pair were joined by their new co-host, Graham.
