PICS: Irish Eurovision hopeful Brendan Murray jets to Ukraine

Irish Eurovision hopeful Brendan Murray flew to Kiev in Ukraine early Monday morning ahead of his semi-final performance in the song contest on Tuesday May 11th.

The 20-year-old from Tuam in Co. Galway was selected by mentor Louis Walsh to represent Ireland this year with his ballad “Dying to Try”.

Brendan will be joined by backing vocalists Graham Kelly, Margot Daly, Julian Edwards, Alison Vard-Miller and Shane McDaid.

Ireland hasn’t won the Eurovision since 1996, the year Eimear Quinn won with The Voice.

Meanwhile, Louis Walsh has backed Brendan to win the song contest, and admitted that he’s “confident” the former Hometown singer will make it out of the semi-finals next week.
