Phoebe Bridgers opens up about spending ‘best Christmas ever’ in Paul Mescal’s hometown

Phoebe Bridgers has opened up about spending Christmas in Ireland with her Irish beau Paul Mescal.

The American singer started dating the Normal People star in 2020 – but the couple only went Instagram official in December last year.

Around this time, Phoebe had jetted to Paul’s hometown of Maynooth to spend the festive season with his family.

The couple were spotted having drinks with friends in the Kildare town, and Paul’s sister Nell shared a glimpse of their celebrations on TikTok.

It looks like Paul and Phoebe may return to Maynooth once again this December, as the songstress has admitted it was her favourite Christmas “ever”.

During a chat with Vogue, Phoebe was asked: “When was your best Christmas ever?”

The 28-year-old replied: “Last year, I stayed with my boyfriend’s [Paul Mescal] family in Ireland. It was a full rom-com.”

The news comes amid speculation the couple are secretly engaged.

The couple first sparked engagement rumours back in April, when Phoebe referred to Paul as her “fiancé” at Coachella, where she was performing.

Paul and Phoebe were first linked in the summer of 2020, when they were spotted on a brunch date in Kinsale, Co. Cork.

Months later, the pair were spotted at the exclusive Soho Farmhouse in England, and onlookers told the Mail On Sunday that they were “all over each other”.

Paul previously starred in the music video for Phoebe’s song ‘Savior Complex’, which was directed by Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The video was shared on Phoebe’s official Facebook page, just days after Paul finally revealed that he has a girlfriend.

During an interview with GQ in November 2020, the actor described his girlfriend as a “lifesaver”, but refused to name the lucky lady.

One year later, they finally made their red carpet debut as a couple, and went Instagram official the following month.
