Lucy Kennedy and TV3 are facing serious backlash for filming an upcoming episode of Living with Lucy with Katie Hopkins.
The TV3 series, which will return this autumn, will see Lucy living with several celebrities including Daniella Westbrook, Michael Healy-Rae, Pat Kenny, and the controversial Katie Hopkins.
On Saturday, Lucy tweeted a photo of her and Katie, and wrote, “Guess who I’m living with? #livingwithlucy @KTHopkins.”
However, the tweet sparked outrage – with people questioning why Katie is being given air time.

Such a shame this woman is given airtime. Presume she was paid too?

Just 4 statements this vile Cretan has made about women & babies, never mind her remarks on Syria pic.twitter.com/r5nCx3HTWj

This racist shouldn’t be broadcast. @TV3Ireland need to look at themselves here. Who made the call? The channel or the production company?

The ghost of the person you hoped you’d become, watching you, judging you?

Ask her why she went to the Med to encourage a boatload of white supremacists trying to stop migrants from escaping sheer hell.

It’s 1 (unforgivable) thing to give her airtime. It’s a whole other (unforgivable) thing to pose smiling with her for likes. So disappointing

Appalling giving that irrelevant woman any kind of platform for shame all in the name of “entertainment” and poor ratings

Living with #racists. This is absolutely shameful. She’d pay for refugees to be drowned & you’re giving her a platform.

Shame on you for giving that hateful person air time. Unfollowed.

Thanks for giving her airtime, Lucy.
Said nobody ever.

Although most people were angered by the decision, some defended Lucy and TV3’s decision to film with Katie Hopkins, and are interested to see how Lucy handles the situation.
. stop, Luke. just stop. stop tying to censor the media. this is not North Korea.. if you don’t like the woman, don’t watch it. simple

who said this show will be about racism? Stop spouting this liberal agenda. I’ve no time for Hopkins, but guess what? ratings gold
— Jeremy Dixon (@JeremyDixonDJ) September 11, 2017
I’m really looking forward to seeing this, it would be very boring to watch LWL if she just stayed with someone non controversial ????????
— Mark Brown (@mdebrun) September 10, 2017
I think I will watch and then comment. Not a fan of sensationalist Hopkins but interested to see how @KennedyLucy treats the situation.

You brave lady……looking forward to watching it!
