Paul Mescal’s latest series is coming to our screens next month

Paul Mescal is returning to our screens very soon, with his latest series The Deceived airing next month.

The Kildare native rose to fame earlier this year in the Hulu and BBC adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People, where he famously starred as Connell Waldron.

The actor will star alongside Emmett Scanlan in the four-part psychological thriller, created and written by Derry Girls’ Lisa McGee and Tobias Beer.

With the mini-series already being aired in the UK, Virgin Media has confirmed that the series will begin airing on Irish screens on September 7.

The series follows Ophelia, played by Emily Reid, as she embarks on an affair with her handsome lecturer Dr Michael Callaghan (Emmett Scanlan) and falls pregnant.

The thriller also stars Catherine Walker as Dr Callaghan’s wife Roisin, Eleanor Methven as Mary Mulvery, and Ian McElhinney as Michael’s father Hugh.

The Deceived was filmed in Northern Ireland and Cambridge, with the full trailer below:
