Paul Mescal has been nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award.
The 24-year-old has been nominated in the Best Actor in a Limited Series category, for his role as Connell in Normal People.
The Irish actor will go up against a host of famous faces in his category – including John Boyega (Small Axe), Hugh Grant (The Undoing), Chris Rock (Fargo), Mark Ruffalo (I Know This Much is True) and Morgan Spector (The Plot Against America).
The news comes after Paul received his first Emmy nod for the same role last year, but he sadly lost out to Mark Ruffalo.
Paul’s co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones has also received a Critics’ Choice nod for her role as Marianne in the Irish drama.
The British actress is nominated in the Best Actress in a Limited Series category, alongside Cate Blanchett (Mrs. America), Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You), Shira Haas (Unorthodox), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit), and Tessa Thompson (Sylvie’s Love).
The show is also nominated for Best Limited Series, alongside I May Destroy You, Mrs. America, The Plot Against America, The Queen’s Gambit, Small Axe, The Undoing, Unorthodox.
Normal People, adapted from Sally Rooney’s novel of the same name, premiered on the BBC and RTÉ in May 2020.
The ten-episode series was also released on Hulu in the U.S., and it received rave reviews online.
The Critics Choice Awards is set to take place on March 7, 2021.
