Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones have landed nominations at the 2021 BAFTA TV Awards.
The nominees were announced via Twitter this morning, with Kildare native Paul shortlisted for Best Leading Actor for his portrayal of Connell Waldron in Normal People.
The 25-year-old is up against John Boyega (Small Axe), Josh O’Connor (The Crown), Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You), Shaun Parkes (Small Axe) and Waleed Zuaiter (Baghdad Central).
Daisy was also nominated for Best Leading Actress, after playing Marianne Sheridan in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s bestselling novel.
The 22-year-old is up against Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie), Hayley Squires (Adult Material), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Letitia Wright (Small Axe) and Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You).
The show’s directer Lenny Abrahamson was nominated in the Best Director: Fiction category, while the popular Hulu and BBC landed a nomination in the Mini-Series category – going up against Adult Material, I May Destroy You and Small Axe.
The 2021 BAFTA TV Awards will take place on June 6.
