Normal People loses out at the 2021 Golden Globes

Normal People has lost out at the 2021 Golden Globes.

The hit series, based on the novel by Sally Rooney, was nominated for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

The Irish drama was up against The Queen’s Gambit, Small Axe, The Undoing and Unorthodox, with The Queen’s Gambit taking home the award.

Daisy Edgar-Jones was also nominated in the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, for her role as Marianne Sheridan in the popular show.

Anya Taylor-Joy took home the award for her performance in the hit Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit.

Other Irish nominees who missed out on the night included Brendan Gleeson, who was up for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for his portrayal of Donald Trump in The Comey Rule.

John Boyega took home the award for his role in Small Axe.

Irish animated film Wolfwalkers missed out on the award for Best Animated Motion Picture, with Disney’s Soul being awarded on the night.
