Niall Horan shares his ‘love’ for rumoured former flame Selena Gomez

Niall Horan has shared his love for Selena Gomez, after she made an emotional speech at the American Music Awards.

The Mullingar man, who was at the a-list bash to perform his debut solo single This Town, praised his rumoured former flame, after she picked up the award for Favourite Female Pop/Rock Artist.

The awards ceremony was Selena’s first public appearance in three months, after she took a break from the music industry earlier this year to seek treatment for health issues.

Taking to Twitter, Niall revealed how proud he was of the brunette beauty, as her speech struck a chord with many at the event.

“Just watching the show back from last night. Really great show . Loved it. love to Selena for the speech, brave young woman,” he wrote.

Niall’s tweet comes after onlookers told E! that the pair greeted each other with a warm embrace at the showbiz bash, as he told her that she “did so good”.

While collecting her award, Selena welled up with tears as she opened up about her battle with anxiety and depression.

“In 2014 this stage was actually the first time that I was authentically 100% honest with all of you.

“I think it’s safe to say most of you know a lot of my life whether I liked it or not. I had to stop, I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside,” she said.

The star’s emotional speech came after she cancelled her world tour due to her struggle with “anxiety, panic attacks and depression”, as a result of her lupus diagnosis.

After admitting to her struggles, the 24-year-old sought treatment at a woman’s only facility just outside Nashville.
