Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson have shared heartfelt posts to mark One Direction’s 10-year anniversary.

It’s officially been a decade since Niall, Louis, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne formed the popular boyband on The X Factor back in 2010.

Taking to Instagram, Niall posted a throwback snap of the original five piece on stage, and paid tribute to his bandmates.

He captioned the post: “When I met these four gents there was no way I thought we would go on to do what we did. So many unbelievable memories we shared together.”

“We felt the adoration of millions from around the planet on a daily basis and it was mind blowing. It’s such a major part of our lives and always will be.”

“Cheers to US today boys and thank you to all you beautiful people who have supported us over the last 10 years. @liampayne @harrystyles @zayn @louist91 ❤️ #10yearsofonedirection.”

Louis also paid tribute to his bandmates on Twitter, and admitted he was feeling “emotional” looking back on the band’s career.

He tweeted: “Feeling pretty emotional today. 10 years!! Spent the morning watching old interviews and performances. Just wanted to send a massive thank you to ALL of my band mates. What we did together was incredible.”

“Too many incredible memories to mention but not a day goes by that I don’t think about how amazing it was. @NiallOfficial @Harry_Styles @LiamPayne @zaynmalik . So proud of you all individually.”

“And to the fans. The people who gave us all these amazing opportunities. You are incredible, your unmatched level of loyality is something that makes me really really proud.”

“Miss it every day!” he added.

One Direction will celebrate their 10 year anniversary today by launching a brand new 1D anniversary website.

Fans were hoping the original five piece, including Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, would reunite for the occasion.

However, the coronavirus pandemic ruined any potential plans for the former bandmates to meet up for a reunion special.

Instead, a special ‘10 Years of One Direction’ website will launch today (July 23rd), which will be an immersive and exciting interactive fan experience.

The site will take the form of a timeline charting the history of the group, from the first audition right up to the start of their hiatus.

It will also host an archive of music videos, artwork, TV performances, behind-the-scenes and rarely-seen content, all in one place.

Fans will also be able to generate their own shareable ‘mixtape’ playlist on the site, which will be personalised according to how they’ve interacted with the site’s content and the eras they’ve spent the most time exploring.

It will also allow fans to connect to Spotify or Apple Music, with the mixtape playlists being saved to their respective accounts.

A brand new anniversary celebration video for YouTube will also be released on July 23rd.

The video will document highlights of the band’s career, from forming on The X Factor to releasing their single ‘History’, including clips from music videos, performances and candid behind the scenes video content.

Reformatted EPs will be released across streaming platforms, featuring b-sides and rare songs, remixes, live recordings and acoustic versions of tracks grouped into one place for fans to rediscover.

There will also be exciting activations across Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and other platforms, including creating and updating One Direction playlists, whilst Amazon’s Alexa will be singing Happy Birthday to the band.

The news comes after One Direction sparked rumours they were set to reunite for their 10th anniversary.

Rumours started swirling back in March, when bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson re-followed ex member Zayn Malik.

Zayn famously quit the band back in 2015, and severed ties with all four of his bandmates.

One year later, One Direction went on “hiatus”, and all members have since launched their own solo careers.

On the latest episode of Goss Chats, Ali Ryan chats to Ronan Keating about his star-studded upcoming music special, and working with Robbie Williams on a special new song dedicated to Stephen Gately.

#GossChats is sponsored by top aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve, which is now back open for bookings.
