Newbridge Silverware respond to Amy Huberman’s pro-choice statement

Newbridge Silverware have said they won’t be commenting on the repeal the 8th movement; after Amy Huberman said she was pro-choice.

The much-loved Irish brand came under fire after Amy, who was previously the face of the brand and has a jewellery range with them, came out as pro-choice.

In a statement on Twitter, Newbridge said they would not be commenting on the referendum or on Amy’s comments as they feel everyone’s opinion on the matter is personal.”

“We understand that this is an incredibly sensitive matter,” the brand said on their Twitter page.

“We cannot comment on anyone’s position on the matter, including Amy Huberman’s,” they added. “It is a matter for the Irish electorate who will decide the outcome on 25th May.”

Newbridge Silverware has since deleted the Tweet.

Just last week, Amy publicly said she would be voting yes to repealing the eight amendment, and said it was a matter of being pro-choice, and not pro anything else.

The actress said bringing in women’s right to have an abortion was “basic healthcare”.

The Striking Out star received a mixed reaction online.
