Natalie Portman reveals: ‘Ireland was WASTED on me’

Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman has admitted she couldn’t enjoy Ireland on her first visit.

The Black Swan star show comedy Your Highness in County Antrim.

And although she lived in Belfast, she was on such a strict diet ahead of her award-winning role in Black Swan, that she couldn’t go out partying.

“That was such a wasted opportunity and just bad, bad timing,” she told the Irish Sun.

“I was in Ireland, with the best pubs on the planet and all the crew were going out and partying and I was stuck with my steamed chicken, working out at the gym.

“They’d tell me how fun their weekend was and it killed me that I was missing out. It got to a point where I didn’t want to know, it was too painful.

“I promised myself that I would come back, with no work commitments, no scheduling and really enjoy myself.”

Meanwhile Natalie has praised Dublin actres Ruth Negga, admitting she could get an oscar nomination in 2017.

“Loving is such an important story to tell, given the unfortunate relevance in today’s society.

“It makes me hopeful and happy that this business is recognising the heightened significance of projects like this and how crucial they are for audiences,” she explained.

“People are definitely talking about Ruth and the extraordinary emotion she conveys and that to me, indicates a rare, powerful talent,” she added.
