“It’s a sad stage when a man has to do that. Why would there be anything sinister about it?
“And, to be honest, it is more difficult to laugh off for me, as the girl. I’m pretty sure the person people see in newspapers is not who I really am.”
Meanwhile the Dubliner has opened up on her friendship with Rory McIlroy – who she was rumoured to have been dating – insisting he’s a total gent.

She told Life magazine: “Rory is the perfect gentleman. One thing that stands out in my mind is how he used to tell the driver to see me home and to make sure I got in the front door safely.
“Little things like that. He is very different to how he is portrayed in the press
“I had no idea of how huge ‘the brand’ was until I got a glimpse inside it. It must be difficult to be lost among that.
“But, at the end of the day, he is just a normal good guy underneath all of that. Very down-to-earth.
