Ex-Miss Ireland Aoife Walsh laughs off NCT court fine: 'It could have happened to anyone'

Ex-Miss Ireland Aoife Walsh has laughed off her motoring offence fine, insisting: “It could have happened to anyone.”

The Clonmel beauty queen hit the headlines after being stopped by Gardai in April without a NCT disc.

It was reported that the 25-year-old – who has three third-level degrees – was fined €150 for the offence in Limerick District Court and given four weeks to pay.

However, speaking for the first time about her court trip, Aoife said it was “just one of those things”.

She told the Herald: “It happened to me and it could have hap- pened to anyone. It’s all sorted now and what can you do?

“It just happened to also be in the paper. I’m not the first person it happened to and I’m not going to be the last, it’s just a pity”.

It follows ex-Miss Limerick Gemma Reilly who was fined €500 at the start of October after she pleaded guilty to speeding at 187kph in a 120kph zone.
