Miriam O’Callaghan: ‘I never set out to be on television’

Miriam O’Callaghan has revealed that she never planned to be working on television.

The Prime Time presenter studied in UCD to become a lawyer, and admitted that she never thought about the money when it comes to her career.

“I started off as a lawyer, I never thought about money – and I still don’t,” she said.

The RTÉ star revealed that she was accidentally pulled into her TV career.

“I never set out to be in television.

“I was a young lawyer and got accidentally pulled into it,” she told the Herald.

Miriam continued that she has no problem with people knowing about her €280,445 salary, because she does what she loves.

“I was reading all the details recently on the BBC and how they are very protective of their presenters and hold back on their incomes.

“I didn’t ever go into it for anything other than the fact I wanted to be a journalist.

“We live in Ireland, it’s a tiny country and I do a job I love,” she added.
