Miriam O’Callaghan blames bookies for rumours she’s running for president

Miriam O’Callaghan has blamed bookies for the rumours that she’ll be running for President of Ireland in 2018.

The Prime Time host is one of Ireland’s most well known political broadcasters but admitted she has no interest in launching a campaign.

“I think it’s bookies,” she said.

The RTE star revealed that it may have been Paddy Power who started the spread of rumours.

“Paddy Power may have started the whole thing,” she told Jarlath Regan’s podcast Irishman Abroad.

“Put up a few names and it gets some kind of traction.

The mother-of-eight said she would not be launching a bid for presidency and complimented our current president.

“We have a superb President in Michael D. He’s playing a blinder.”
