Michael Flatley given New York street honour

Michael Flatley has made a permanent mark on Broadway – with a street being named in his honour.

Making his Broadway debut with his show The Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games at the Lyric Theater – the famed Irish dancer had section of the world famous street named Flatley Way in his honour.

“It’s fantastic. It’s a dream come true,” he said.

The Chicago native, who spoke briefly at the ceremony, is based in New York until January with his stage show.

Despite his successes, the 57-year-old revealed will be hanging up his dancing shoes once his run is done – admitting performing on Broadway was the last to be crossed off his wishlist.

“That’s the last dream. My wife and my team asked, ‘Is there anything else we haven’t done in this career?’ I said, ‘I’ve never done Broadway and I want to dance in the greatest place in the world,'” he previously said.
