Maura Higgins has responded to the reactions of viewers after her pursuit of fellow Love Island contestant Tommy Fury.
UK TV watchdog Ofcom received over 700 complaints from the public, as many branded Maura’s behavior to be “predatory.
While the complaints have since been rejected, Maura addressed them when speaking to The Sun newspaper:
“I’m a girl who knows what she wants and goes for it,” she said.
“Tommy and I had chemistry on our date but a lot of what I said was banter and I think Tommy would agree.”
However, the Irish model admitted that she could have behaved more appropriately in the situation.
“Watching it back I could have approached it differently, but I just went for it,” Maura explained.
Upon entering the Love Island villa, Maura began grafting the pro-boxer, and attempted to kiss him while laying on top of him despite him rebuffing her advances.
Ofcom will not investigate complaints regarding the Love Island contestants attempt to kiss Tommy.
