Marty Whelan has ruled out competing on RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars.

The TV presenter has no interest in signing up for the popular dance competition, but he’d love to host it.

Marty told the Irish Mirror: “As I told Larry Bass, give me a shout if you are looking for a presenter.”

“I went out to support Mary Kennedy but I am not going down that road, it is not a thing I need to do. If I need to do something, I will get my drums out and start a band.”

Marty previously auditioned to co-host the RTÉ series, but bosses chose to book Nicky Byrne for the role instead.

Although he was disappointed over their decision, Marty thinks Nicky and Jennifer Zamparelli are doing a great job co-hosting the show.

“What they have is perfect and it works really well. I was one of the people they had in their sights and they went with Nicky and that is fine,” he said.

“I think he is doing a really good job and I think he is very natural in the role. What I like about Nicky is that he is a good fella when it comes to chatting to the celebrities.

“They went with him and that is OK, you move on,” he added.

On the latest episode of Goss Chats, Ali Ryan sits down with Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn, who reveals the real drama between the women on the show, and how she battled coronavirus on her wedding day.

#GossChats is sponsored by top Irish aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve, which is now back open for bookings.
