Speaking to Goss.ie the 58-year-old admitted that Ireland has something different to offer this year – thanks to Tipperary contestant Molly Sterling.

Admitting that “the possibility of winning would be quite nice”, Marty said Ireland must believe we have a chance of winning if we enter every year.

“Every year we have a try so we must have a chance but we have to do the best we can and send as good as a song.

“We have really good song again this year so you make the best you can, that’s how it works so fingers crossed.

“She’s good, she’s that bit different,” Marty added.

The broadcaster who has just released his first album Marty Recommends The Album, was left shocked when his show Winning Streak was pulled to make way for The Million Euro Challenge hosted by former Westlife singer Nicky Byrne.

But Marty admitted he’s been watching the new lottery show.

“I’ve been watching, it’s quite different from what we do but there it is. He’s doing the best he can, it’s a different type of show,” he admitted.
