Mark Cagney has slammed claims that he’s set to leave Ireland AM next year.

The TV3 star has said that the reports are “complete and utter tripe”.

The 61-year-old has insisted that he will be on the show for the foreseeable future.

“It’s total rubbish. I’m not going anywhere any time soon,” he told the Herald.

The presenter added that his three-year contract is up for renewal later this year, and that he will sit down with station bosses for negotiations.

“Despite the upheaval of the last year, the show’s doing great. There was a lot of noise in the digital sphere but the programme wasn’t affected and the figures speak for themselves,” he continued.

Last October, Mark’s co-presenter Sinead Desmond quit the show after 11 years working at TV3 due to alleged pay dispute.

Ciara Doherty has temporarily filled Sinead’s role on the show, and Mark said, “Ciara is playing a blinder, the audience love her.”
