Margot Robbie is in talks to star alongside Saoirse Ronan.
The Australian beauty is in negotiations to play Queen Elizabeth in the upcoming Mary Queen of Scots film, which will star Saoirse in the title role.
The Carlow actress has been linked to the project since 2012, and the film will tell the story of how “Mary Stuart’s attempt to overthrow her cousin Elizabeth I, Queen of England, finds her condemned to years of imprisonment before facing execution.”

The film has been in development for years, and many different actors and directors have been attached to the project over the years, as Scarlett Johansson was rumoured to play the lead role back in 2006.
According to Variety, House of Cards creator Beau Willimon will write the script based on John Guy’s book The True Life of Mary Stuart, and Josie Rourke is set to direct the film.
Although the project is yet to receive the green light, source say things are “heading in the right direction.”
