Man arrested for throwing brick through window of Pantibar on Pride weekend

Panti Bliss posted a photo of the brick on social media

A man has been arrested for throwing a brick through the window of Pantibar.

The brick, which carried a homophobic message, was hurled through the window of the popular gay bar on Dublin’s Capel Street on Friday night.

Gay rights activist Rory O’Neill, otherwise known as Panti Bliss, posted a picture of the brick on Twitter, alongside the caption, “A brick thrown through Pantibar’s window just now. No one hurt. It says in Irish ‘FAIRIES (fags) OUT OF IRELAND’.”

The bar owner continued, “But we are Ireland Happy Pride everyone. It’s going to be a great day tomorrow, full of Irish love and queer joy. Be thankful for it, because some people have neither.”

Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the incident, and Panti has since revealed that the culprit was arrested.

Panti tweeted, “Word of advice: never return to the scene of the crime. Brick tosser already caught – by bar manager Shane and bouncer Aaron while he was running from the cops!

“Idiot already arrested. Young closet… sorry… I mean young guy. ???? Why’d he do it?
‘I don’t f***in like dem’ etc.”

The news comes ahead of the Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride Parade, which will take place in the city centre today.
