Mairead Ronan has shared an emotional post on her late mother’s 80th birthday.

The Today FM star’s mother, Maureen Farrell, sadly passed away after a long battle with breast cancer – when the broadcaster was just 21-years-old.

Taking to Instagram, Mairead posted a sweet snap of her two daughters Eliza and Bonnie, alongside a touching message.

“All dressed up on a Wednesday and off to see grandad because today is my mum’s birthday. She would have been 80 ????,” she began the post.

“If she was here we know she would have had a parteee (but followed guidelines obvs .. Maureen liked to stick within the rules).”

“Anyway .. she never met this pair but hopefully with nights like tonight and us always talking about her, they will grow up feeling like the knew their other gorgeous Nana. ????.”

“**They have one very gorgeous Nana alive and well in Tipperary aka Gigi,” she added.

Friends and fans flooded the comment section to praise Mairead and her family.

“They’re so beautiful. Will be thinking of you and your beloved Mum this eve. XXX,” fellow Irish broadcaster Maia Dunphy wrote.

“Gorgeous. Enjoy your night and love to Robert,” another follower commented.

On the latest episode of Goss Chats, Ali Ryan chats to Ronan Keating about his star-studded upcoming music special, and working with Robbie Williams on a special new song dedicated to Stephen Gately.

#GossChats is sponsored by top aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve, which is now back open for bookings.
