The mother-of-three received a nasty message online

Mairead Ronan has hit back at trolls, who have criticised her for signing up for Dancing With The Stars.

The TV presenter, who welcomed her third child Bonnie just five months ago, received a nasty message on Twitter last weekend – which slammed her for being away from her new baby.

The tweet read, “Give it Up Mairead, Go home and mind your new born.”

Speaking to the Irish Sun about the hurtful comment, the mother-of-three said, “A message like that is designed to give you a punch in the stomach.”

“Every woman who goes to work has a tough time — you feel bad leaving your kids, you feel bad when you’re struck in traffic and they are at home, when you aren’t around to cook a meal for them.

“You feel bad enough, you don’t need someone sending you a message to try and make you feel worse. They even tagged my dance partner John Nolan in the tweet, in case I was avoiding social media,” she said.

“The tweet made it look as if I had left the new baby outside in a pram? I mean, honestly, I am not going to be gone for two years doing Dancing with the Stars.”

While Mairead is in rehearsals or appearing on the live show on Sunday night’s, her kids Dara, 11, Eliza, 2, and Bonnie, five months, are being looked after by her husband Louis or their childminder.

“It’s only a couple of hours a day until the March 24 final, if I make it that far,” Mairead said. “Then I’m back with the baby.”
