Maia Dunphy wasn't '100% sure' she wanted a baby when she got pregnant

Maia Dunphy has admitted she wasn’t “100% sure” she wanted to have a baby when she got pregnant.

But the RTE presenter said she realised it was “probably now or never” for herself and comedian husband Johnny Vegas.

She said: “I had put off the baby issue for such a long time and wasn’t ever 100pc sure it was for me but realised it’s probably now or never.”

The What Women Want star revealed during the week that she is expecting a boy but wanted a girl.

And Maia has now admitted that it has been “tough” being pregnant – especially finding out just after a move to the UK.

She said: “It was a tough first few months as I had just moved to London when I found out, and I could have done with a bit longer to settle in but I am regularly told that there is never a perfect time.

“It can be a very lonely secret to keep when you don’t have close friends nearby, but my husband was great as was my sister who is in London too.”

And Maia told the Sunday Independent that she “never expected the massive reaction we got” from the public.

She joked: “People have been lovely, and that has made me even more excited about it all. Wonder how many of the well-wishers we can get to babysit?”
