Maia Dunphy can never spend time with husband Johnny Vegas in public – as people always hand him pints and start drinking with him.
The RTE star feels they are interrupted more than Bono, because of her comedian husband’s loveable TV persona.
“I only get recognised very occasionally and even then it’s just something nice saying, ‘Oh, I like your show’,” she said.

“But Johnny is really recognisable and accessible. People will walk over to him in a bar and hand him a pint and say, ‘I want to sit here and get drunk with you’.
“But he’s just out trying to have a cup of tea with me. Whereas I bet Bono can sit in a bar and people will just whisper about him in the corner but not go over.
“I guess because of Johnny’s character on TV he seems very friendly and relatable, and he is like that in real life too.”
The What Women Want host, 38, wed Johnny three years ago – and just recently moved across to London to live together for the first time.

But Maia admitted that there is one thing that brings a downer to their time together, when people try to take sneaky shots of Johnny.
“He’s nice to everyone but his pet hate is if we’re out and someone takes a sneaky snap,” she told the Sunday World.
“You can see the phone being angled and that pisses him off no end, because he never says no to a photo request.”
