Maia Dunphy has insisted husband Johnny Vegas didn’t punch above his weight to get her – because she’s not that beautiful.
The RTE star married the UK comedian three years ago in Italy, and were recently targeted by Twitter trolls who said she was too good looking for him.
But Maia, 38, says she found it extremely “offensive” – insisting they truly are in love.
She said: “That was offensive to both parties. I don’t consider myself to be particularly beautiful, I’m quite ordinary.

“But that phrase implies that he is only with me because I don’t have a hideous face and I’m with him for reasons other than how he looks.”
Just over a month ago, Maia moved across to live with Johnny and his 11-year-old son in London – their first time living together.
She told the RTE Guide: “You get very set in your ways, so it’s not all The Waltons but it’s pretty good and it made sense for both of us. But I turned down a few good jobs in Dublin.”
