Love Island winner Greg O’Shea visits children’s hospital after returning home to Ireland

The newly famous rugby player delighted patients and staff

Greg O’Shea visited sick children at a hospital in Limerick, after he returned home for the first time since winning Love Island.

The rugby player, who won the 2019 series with Amber Gill, delighted patients and staff in the Children’s Ark at University Hospital Limerick on Wednesday.

The hospital shared a video of Greg posing for photos with staff members, and wrote: “We had a special visitor this afternoon at the Children’s Ark in UHL.”

“@GregOShea_ popped in to say hello to our younger patients. Thank you Greg for taking time out to chat to them. You really helped brighten their day.  Staff were happy too ????.”

For Irish rugby star Joy Neville praised the 24-year-old for taking the time out to visit by tweeting, “Good man @GregOShea_ ???? the kids will be delighted. Wonderful staff and even better kids ????.”

Greg, who is also studying law, touched down in Ireland via Shannon Airport yesterday, and received a hero’s welcome.

Speaking to press at the airport, Greg said his time on Love Island helped him get over previous heartbreak.

The sports star was planning to marry his last girlfriend, but unfortunately their relationship didn’t work out.

Greg said: “Love definitely exists, I gave up on it for a while because I got so heartbroken, but what I would say to people is just keep going. Don’t give up on yourself, you’ll find the right person.”

Speaking about his ex, Greg said: “My past is my past. She made that decision and I hope she is happy and okay with it and that too many people didn’t bother her.

“I’m sure she is in a lovely new relationship, so I wish her the best,” he added.
