Louis Walsh has responded to rumours that Nicky Byrne will quit his TV and radio commitments for Westlife.

The boyband finally announced their reunion this week, and revealed plans to release a new album and embark on a massive world tour next year.

Soon after the news was confirmed, fans started to question whether band member Nicky Byrne will leave his job hosting his show on RTÉ 2FM, as well as co-hosting Dancing With The Stars.

But there’s no need to fret, as the band’s long-time manager Louis has addressed the situation.

Louis told the Irish Sun: “Nicky is staying on TV and radio. It’s his job. He’s very good at it and he’s going to keep doing it.”

As for when we can expect new music from Westlife, Louis teased that their comeback single will be released next month – but we’ll have to wait until next year for the album.

The former X Factor judge also revealed that Ed Sheeran teamed up with producer Steve Mac to write FOUR of the tracks on Westlife’s upcoming new album.

Louis said, “Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac are the best songwriting team on the planet right now.”

“The two lads have written four tracks on the new Westlife album, one of them is an uptempo anthem, I can’t give the name of yet, which is going to be massive.”

“Westlife always worked with the best songwriters, that’s why we always got played on the radio, and we picked up fans like Ed, who is now working with Steve on some new songs for Westlife. We’re thrilled with the results.”

The 66-year-old, who is co-managing Westlife with former Syco boss Sonny Takharm, said the reaction to their reunion news has been crazy.

He said, “Asia, China, Japan, everywhere has gone crazy. The offers to play are coming in from around the world.”
