Lisa Cannon reveals her next move after Weekend AM

Lisa Cannon has admitted that she may return to life behind the camera after her stint on Weekend AM.

The TV3 star has been filling in for Anna Daly while on maternity leave, but with Anna set to return in May – Lisa’s plans for the future are up in the air.

The brunette beauty plans to continue working with TV3, but she’s unsure whether that will be on or off camera.

“I am going to do other projects with TV3, I am looking to go between a few of the shows and I’ve also pitched a lot of ideas that I’m interested in doing,” she told the RTÉ Guide.

“I’m enjoying presenting at the moment, but I am very aware that at some point those doors won’t always be open to me.

“So for sure I will have to go back to my original training, production. All the channels now welcome people who produce and present.

“You need to be multifaceted to be able to survive in this industry. The days of just being a presenter are gone,” she explained.

The presenter was axed from TV3’s Xposé last August alongside Aisling O’Loughlin and Peter O’Riordan, and revealed that moving to the likes of Weekend AM was such a drastic change – but an exciting one.

“It’s been a firecracker move, you’re live for three hours. I have been doing entertainment for so long, even pre-Xpose, so to change tack and invite all this new knowledge into your life at 38 is exciting.

“It makes you grow up too because there is so much there that you need to understand, which maybe you hadn’t been exploring, so I have been devouring all the papers to make sure I don’t drop the ball,” she said.

In terms of her personal life, the 38-year-old has been married to her rugby player boyfriend Richard Keatley since 2015 – but the pair are yet to add to their family.

“I realise that at 38, I am looking to do it a little bit later, but yet so many of my friends have had children up into their
40’s.

“There are so many advances in fertility treatments as well, if that was an avenue that we needed to go down. I would love it to happen but it’s not my call, I have to wait for nature to find its own way,” she added.
