Lisa Cannon: 'Like Robbie Williams, I'm like a fat person trying to get out of a slim person's body'

TV presenter Lisa Cannon has compared herself to singer Robbie Williams – when it comes to her body.

The Xpose star revealed she is working out ahead of tying the knot with Richard Keatley in the Castello di Vincigliata in Florence next month.

“Like Robbie Williams I’m like a fat person trying to get out of a slim person’s body,” she joked.

At a slim size 12, the 35-year-old beauty admitted her “weight fluctuates” and has now accepted her curves.

“If a cupcake was sitting there, and you were eating it, the weight would go on me if I looked at it,” she told The Sun.

“But the older I get the more I understand my body and realise I’m not a long, lean race horse. I’m short and voluptuous and I have to be careful.”

Working long hours for Xpose has left the TV star with little time to eat healthily but she revealed balance is key to her diet.

“I try to do a balance but when not drinking was fine but it was the sweet stuff that killed me – yesterday you’re rushing on flights you’ll grab a wrap,” she said.

“The other option is starve which I’ve tried to do but then you end up milling into the fridge.

“I try and keep porridge and nuts on me when I’m driving. I try to eat breakfast, something I don’t always do and don’t eat late at night,” she added.

The Dubliner previously competed in the Powerlifting Championships last April – going from presenter to pro powerlifter in just eight weeks.

“I’m a size 12 now and when I was doing the weight lifting I was a size 10. I felt leaner,” she revealed.

“But I wasn’t allowed to eat dairy or chocolate or drink alcohol so I was miserable.”

During her training period, Lisa revealed it wasn’t alcohol she missed but her sugar hit.

“The no drinking was fine but it was the chocolate that killed me, the sweet stuff,” she admitted.

“When I come home I love a builder’s mug of tea and I’d be sniffing a pack of maltesers, or I’d stick the Terry’s Chocolate Orange up to my nose. Nobody wants to see a grown woman doing that.”
