Lily Mae's parents reveal Elton John went 'above and beyond' to make their daughter's wish come true

The parents of cancer sufferer Lily-Mae Morrison have thanked Elton John for bringing their little girl backstage at his recent Dublin gig.

Parents Judy and Leighton were over joyed when Lily-Mae was invited backstage at the 3 Arena gig, where Elton chatted to her and later dedicated his song Tiny Dancer to her.

“He was so nice last week, he was really, really friendly,” Leighton told Goss.ie.

“He came in straight away and got down to Lilly Mae’s level and said ‘there’s the little girl I’ve been wanting to meet for over a year now.’

“He was just hugging and kissing everybody, you wouldn’t think he’s a megastar,” he explained.

“He just gave us loads of time and a beautiful tribute on stage, it went really well. He went above and beyond.”

Celebrities joined forces this morning to entertain the children on the ward, with stars like Brian McFadden, Brendan O’Carroll, Lisa Fitzpatrick, Ruby Walsh and Vogue Williams all taking part.

Leighton added that he was finally looking forward to Christmas, now that Lily-Mae is in remission.

“We’re looking forward to Christmas now this year. She’s six now and she’s been sick for the last two years, so it’s a big deal for us

“She’s really looking forward to Santa,” he told Goss.ie.
