Liam Neeson says Love Actually reunion made him reflect on losing wife Natasha Richardson

Liam Neeson has admitted that taking part in the Love Actually reunion special made him think about his late wife Natasha Richardson.

The Irish actor reprised the role of widower Daniel from the much-loved film for Red Nose Day last week, but revealed that revisiting Love Actually was difficult, especially after the death of his co-star Alan Rickman and his wife Natasha Richardson.

Alan Rickman, who played Harry in Love Actually, died in early 2016 after battling cancer, while Liam’s actress wife Natasha tragically passed away following a freak skiing accident in 2009. She was aged just 45, and left behind Liam and their two sons, Daniel and Micheal.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about taking part in the reunion, the Ballymena native said, “Some of us have died. Oh, my dear old friend. God rest him. Some have gotten divorced. I’ve lost my wife.”

“Plenty of times I’ve thought about this film and my own life. Love Actually, that’s the way it is. That’s the tapestry of life.”

Liam and Natasha tied the knot in 1994, but the Irish star has never remarried.

The news comes after original Love Actually star Emma Thompson admitted that she couldn’t bring herself to take part in the reunion special after Alan Rickman’s death. Emma and Alan played husband and wife, Harry and Karen, in the original 2003 film.
