Liam Neeson on retirement: ‘I’ll keep going until the knees give up’

Liam Neeson has banished the idea of retiring any time soon, as he insisted that he “needs” to work.

Despite being one of Hollywood’s highest paid actors, the Irish man has said that he’s too “working-class” to retire and enjoy his riches.

“I need to work. I’m a working class Irishman. I’m f*****g lucky.

“A stranger gets in touch with my agent and says, ‘Could you send Liam Neeson a script?’ I’m still flattered by that. So I’ll keep doing it till the knees give up,” he told Men’s Journal.

The 64-year-old, who has starred in plenty of action-thrillers over the years including the blockbuster Taken franchise, also revealed that he was once considered for the iconic role of James Bond back in the 1990s.

“I was being considered. I’m sure they were considering a bunch of other guys, too.”

However, the actor ended up turning down the role after his late wife Natasha claimed that she would refuse to marry him if he took the role, as it would “ruin” his career.

“Women, foreign countries. Halle Berry. It’s understandable. It’s no big deal. It’s nice to be inquired after,” he laughed.
