Liam Cunningham gushes about ‘gorgeous’ Ruth Negga

Liam Cunningham has praised Oscar-nominated actress Ruth Negga.

The Dubliner, who plays Davos in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, spoke about the Limerick actress at a Women Mean Business World Vision event.

The actor previously worked with Ruth on the 2014 film Noble, which tells the story of children’s rights campaigner Christina Noble’s life.

The 55-year-old spoke about Ruth’s Oscar nomination, “I had the biggest smile on my face when I heard she got nominated. She’s very deserving of it.”

The Game of Thrones star told the Irish Independent, “Ruth’s the most gorgeous, easy-going, decent girl. I saw her at the Golden Globes, I went over and gave her a hug. She’s just brilliant.

“I’ve known her 20 years, she’s been at it a long time. She’s done theatre, she’s paid her dues.

“The highest compliment I can pay Ruth is she’s not a movie star, she’s an actor, and that’s what she is. She’s a brilliant ambassador for this place and for diversity and is very clever.

“She’s worked her way up slowly and she’s the real deal. She hasn’t just had it thrown at her. She just knows her stuff, she’s a professional.”
