Leo Varadkar leads tributes to Avicii after his tragic passing

Leo Varadkar has led tributes to Avicii after the tragic news broke that the 28-year-old has passed away.

The Taoiseach recalled how the Dj’s song ‘Wake Me Up’ reminded him of a holiday in Spain.

“So sorry to hear of the untimely passing of Avicii. Wake Me Up was the song of the summer of 2013 and my song of the Camino.”

Artists and celebrities all over the world have been sharing their grief on social media in the wake of the news.

2fm presenter Eoghan McDermott also took to Twitter to express his grief.

“Desperately sad about Avicii. You can have the world at your feet, an army of adoring fans, riches beyond your wildest dreams, barriers to nothing – & have it all cut short on some idle Friday that means nothing to anybody. Make good choices & cherish loved ones. You never know.”

Fellow DJs shared their shock and sadness about the news.

Martin Garrix, another world famous DJ said “Can’t really describe in words how sad I feel right now.. thank you for inspiring me and millions others. RIP @Avicii ????❤”

Fans have called for the DJ to be honored at the Billboard awards.

A Billboard interview has also resurfaced from three years ago which saw Laidback Luke predict Avicii would die in his twenties.

Since the news broke the star has retweeted several tweets about how the music industry doesn’t look after its young talent and how tough touring is on people.
