Keith Duffy reveals he doesn’t want to be a grandad

The singer had his children when he was 21 but doesn't want grandkids at 41

Keith Duffy has revealed he doesn’t want to be a grandad at 41.

Despite being a young dad himself at 21, the singer doesn’t want his son Jay, 20, to make him a grandfather any time soon.

“I was [a year older] than Jay when I had him. I don’t want to be a grandad but no doubt I will be one day,” he said.

However, Keith admitted that when he does have grandchildren he will enjoy spending time with them more than when he had his own kids.

“When that day comes I’ll enjoy my grandkids more than I had the opportunity to enjoy my own kids,” he told the Irish Mirror.

Speaking about his son’s acting career, the Boyzone star explained how Jay has become more grounded because of it and is still working in Dublin club Xico to make extra cash.

“It’s the business my son is going into now too and he can see how frustrating it can be.

“He has two big movies coming out, when they come out he’ll get more interest but until they do it’s quiet,” he added.
