Keith Duffy on Boyzlife: ‘The Westlife lads don’t support us the same way Boyzone do’

Keith Duffy has admitted that the Westlife lads aren’t very supportive of Boyzlife.

The former Boyzone singer and ex Westlife star Brian McFadden joined forces last year to bring fans some of their greatest hits in a tour around Europe and the UK.

While Keith’s former Boyzone pals, including Mikey Graham, Ronan Keating, and Shane Lynch, have been very supportive of Keith and Brian’s new venture – they can’t say the same for Brian’s former bandmates, Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Markus Feehily.

“The Westlife lads are not as supportive because Brian’s situation with them is a different situation,” Keith told the Herald.

“Westlife went on for six or seven years without Brian, so they have a completely different relationship than I do with Boyzone.”

“Myself and the lads in Boyzone have a great brotherhood between us. We know where our faults lie and we try to bring out the best in each other,” Keith said.

Brian and Keith have grown close since teaming up as a duo, and the pair now live on the same street.

“Brian has rented a house on the same road where I live. I live on a golf course and they have holiday homes on the course,” he said.

“He got rid of his place in London and rented his place beside me. He spends most of his time now in Manchester with his new girlfriend (Danielle Parkinson) when he’s not working.”

However, before Brian nabbed his new home on the same street as Keith – he moved in with the Duffy family for a few months.

“It was like having another child. It’s like having a younger son than Jay. Brian is 36, but he’s harder to handle than Jay is,” he laughed.

“But he’s a great character – he has a heart of gold and he’s very talented. We have a great relationship.”

The news comes after Brian recently admitted that he thinks he saved Westlife by leaving the band in 2004.
