Katie Taylor set to make her professional debut next month

The boxer previously competed in the Olympics

Katie Taylor will reportedly make her professional debut at the Wembley Arena on November 26th.

The boxer won gold at the 2012 Olympics in the women’s lightweight devision, but lost her title at this year’s competition in Rio.

The Bray native supposedly approached Matchroom Sports boss Eddie Hearn about her new career and he is said to be promoting her first professional match.

According to The Sun, Katie’s match will be broadcasted on Sky Sports.

“I definitely feel like I have a few years in me and I’d love to give it a go. I’d love to box for a world professional title,” she told the publication previously.

“I won’t be waiting around too long for a world title if I do go pro. We need a few bigger names from the amateur game to turn over, just to generate a bit of interest in the women’s professional game.”

The boxer will apparently not be coached by her father Pete, as he recently hit out at the rumours that the two are not speaking.
